FAQ
Is the roaster only for cooking whole pigs?
Good question, although roasting pigs is its "bread and butter" so to speak, you can actually do much more with it!
The PigOut roaster is an all in one cooking centre where you can roast, grill, steam, hot hold, and smoke a variety of meats and vegetables.
Whole roast pigs, lamb, venison, chickens, turkey, hip of beef (or even alligator!) directly on the roasting pole using the provided clamp system.
Use the different accessories like the rotisserie baskets, grill racks or chaffing pans to further expand your methods of cooking.
Once you start experimenting you will find that the roaster is anything but a machine to solely cook pigs and is sure to be your new favorite piece of equipment.
What’s the capacity of the roaster?
The XL is designed for and recommended up to 150 lbs pigs, ideally for roasting whole animals more than once each week.
It can roast in the roaster pigs up to 200 lbs (live weight) on occasion.
The Standard roaster can roast up to 110 lbs pigs (live weight).
It has a 72" long stainless steel cooking area, 24” x 22” grill, 2 burners, 2 spit rods and 4 baskets (capacity approx. 70 lbs pigs).
The Mini roaster (great as an add-on or to use alongside XL) is more mobile, with wheels & transport handle to make it flexible.
Capacity is up to 30 lbs pigs, chicken, turkey or roast meats, typically about 20–30 servings.

What if the propane runs out?
The burners are designed to sit outside the roaster. They are very easy to remove and replace, and propane tanks can be swapped in seconds.
Propane usage is around 3–4 lbs per hour. Typical roast (80 lb pig) uses around 18 lbs propane.
Is there anything you don’t recommend cooking on the roaster?
The only thing we would recommend not cooking on your roaster is anything with sauces (soups, curries, etc.), since it will mess the burners.
Think of the roaster like a giant BBQ. Perfect for roasting whole pigs, lamb, chicken, beef, and fish.
The roaster makes foods like pulled pork, sausages, roast meats, vegetables, ribs, turkey, or chicken wings taste amazing.
Desserts are also easy. Anything that can be grilled or roasted can be cooked on the PigOut Roaster – except liquid/soupy dishes.
How much propane does it use?
Typically, each burner consumes 1 lb/hour and Standard XL has 2 burners.
So, average cook uses roughly 3–4 lbs propane/hour.
This equates to about 18 lbs propane for an 80 lb pig roast (approx. 6 hours).
You can use either 5, 10, or 20 lb propane tanks.
What if the weather is bad?
The roaster works in all weather. It is designed for outdoor catering year-round.
-
Stainless steel exterior resists rusting.

Snow: works fine, propane burners create heat shield.
